Are the sex wars about class?
The moral panic around Bill Clinton's infidelity is another example of this--conservatives never got over thinking of him as trailer trash, and the sex scandal was an opportunity to differientiate him from what they perceive as legitimate, upper class rulers. Clinton doesn't get to be discreet. As someone hailing from the working class, his sexual behavior is to be held up and mocked as crass and cheap.
Bill Clinton may have working class roots (I think petty bourgeois roots would be more accurate) and some of the ruling class may personally dislike him for that. But Bill Clinton isn't working class anymore. He's ruling class, and has been for a very long time, and he acts accordingly.
