London's Fiery Cross
The excuse for the demonstration was Michael Isikoff's now retracted 'Newsweek' story concerning the alleged mistreatment of Korans in Guantanamo Bay. The fact that the story was retracted prior to the demonstration, and that Condoleeza Rice had made clear that desecration of the 'holy Koran' (has she converted to Islam?) was directly contrary to American policy, did not deter the demonstrators.
